Mideast Data Systems LLC (MDS) has achieved carbon neutrality for the year 2024, offsetting its total residual greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of 645 MTCO₂e through investments in internationally certified renewable energy projects.
The company’s 2024 Carbon Footprint Report was developed in accordance with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14064-1 standards, covering both Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. To ensure accuracy and transparency, MDS’s 2023 and 2024 inventories were independently verified by TÜV SÜD, a globally recognized third-party assurance provider.
To neutralize its emissions, MDS retired 645 Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), equally distributed across three United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)-registered renewable energy projects, each contributing 215 MTCO₂e of verified emission reductions.
These include:
1. Vanala Small-Scale Hydropower Project, India (15 MW) – Generates clean hydroelectric power, improves regional electricity access, and supports local employment.
2. Biomass Power Generation Project, China (30 MW) – Converts agricultural residues into renewable energy, reducing methane emissions and creating 123 jobs.
3. Wind Electricity Generation Project, India (13.95 MW) – Supplies renewable power to Tamil Nadu’s grid, reducing CO₂, SOx, and NOx emissions while supporting local economic growth.
By achieving carbon neutrality, MDS proudly contributes to the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 vision to driving national progress toward a resilient, low-carbon, and sustainable future.
