List of the initiatives

Partnership with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG)
MDS continues to demonstrate its strong commitment to sustainability through a range of impactful initiatives. The company has established an annual membership contract with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), reflecting management’s vision to promote sustainable practices not only within MDS but also across its affiliated entities. By encouraging employee participation and fostering a culture of eco-consciousness, MDS enhances its ESG performance and Corporate Social Responsibility. The recent inclusion of Midis Group, an ICT leader and affiliate of MDS, into EEG’s corporate network further reinforces this commitment. Known for its excellence in ICT services, data centers, and power solutions, Midis Group aligns with EEG’s mission of environmental stewardship, contributing to a greener future through innovative and sustainable solutions. Together, MDS and its affiliates are advancing initiatives that create lasting value for both the environment and the communities they serve.

Mangrove Tree Planting 2025
In collaboration with Emirates Environmental Group, MDS planted 250 Avicennia marina mangrove trees at Mangrove Beach in Umm Al Quwain on April 22, 2025. Mangrove planting in the UAE delivers multiple environmental benefits, including climate change mitigation, coastal protection, and the enhancement of biodiversity. As natural carbon sinks, mangroves are highly effective at capturing and storing carbon dioxide, thereby reducing greenhouse gas concentrations, making them an effective nature-based solution in our fight against climate change. The planted trees are expected to offset approximately 36.25 metric tons of CO₂ annually, while simultaneously contributing to ecosystem stability and shoreline resilience. The campaign is a crucial part of the country’s goal of a greener UAE. Mideast Data Systems L.L.C participation in the campaign shows the level of the organization’s commitment and understanding of the importance of reducing and offsetting carbon emissions in the environment, a key part of the UAE’s vision of Carbon NET-ZERO by 2050.

Adopt a Tree 2024
As part of the “Adopt a Tree” campaign by the Emirates Environmental Group, under the umbrella of the “For Our Emirates We Plant” program, Mideast Data Systems LLC planted 80 Ghaf trees, contributing to the mitigation of approximately 0.47 MT of CO₂ emissions annually. The Ghaf is the national tree of the UAE as it is a historic and cultural symbol of stability and peace in the UAE’s desert environment. The Ghaf tree is a resilient plant, well adapted to survive harsh desert environments by having deep root systems, allowing them to tap into underground water sources, therefore, providing habitat and food for a wide variety of desert-dwelling animals, including birds, insects, and mammals. By participating in this initiative, we contributed to the restoration of desert ecosystems and the reduction of our carbon footprint.

Recycling Program “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle “
As part of our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, our company has an annual recycling contract with Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) to implement a comprehensive recycling program. Through this collaboration, we actively promote waste segregation and recycling across our offices, encouraging employees to contribute to a greener future. EEG supports our efforts by providing monthly collection reports for Mideast Data Systems LLC, covering Paper, Plastic, Aluminum Cans, E-waste (EBM), and Scrap Metal. These efforts result in measurable environmental benefits, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, energy savings, minimized landfill impact, and tree preservation. These efforts help us reduce our environmental footprint and foster a culture of eco-consciousness within the workplace. We are supporting UAE goals to shift towards a waste-free future and achieve the goal of diverting 75% of waste from landfills by 2030.

Clean UAE 2024
This campaign is initiated by Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), a professional working group that is devoted to protecting the environment through education, action programs, and community involvement. This initiative aims to enhance sustainability and environmental consciousness both nationally and globally, and it’s being held under the patronage of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE). To achieve and support UAE’s mission of Carbon NET-ZERO by 2050, MDS demonstrated its commitment to a more sustainable future by participating in the 23rd edition of the “Clean UAE” Campaign in Abu Dhabi.

Green Run 2025
On February 2025, MDS teams took part in the Green Run UAE as part of MDS Road to Sustainability Campaign, a 5km event organized by Dubai Investments Park. The event was organized with the goal of raising awareness regarding environmental conservation and sustainable development. This initiative promoted healthy living and environmental consciousness. Our participation highlighted our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility and supported the UAE’s Carbon Net-Zero 2050 vision. This campaign is an essential part of the country’s goal of achieving a greener future. Participation in such initiatives highlights MDS’s commitment to promoting and supporting the development of a more sustainable community.

COP28
Mideast Data Systems LLC (MDS) actively participated in COP28, held in Dubai from November 30 to December 12, 2023. By engaging in activities within the Green Zone, which featured workshops, seminars, and training sessions, MDS enhanced the skills and knowledge of its employees. This educational component strengthens the company’s adaptability and competitiveness in the sustainability sector.
COP28 was particularly significant as it marked the conclusion of the first global stock taken under the Paris Agreement. This comprehensive review highlighted that progress remains insufficient across all key areas of climate action. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, building resilience to climate impacts, and providing financial and technological support to vulnerable nations. In response, countries agreed to accelerate efforts across all pillars of climate action by 2030. This includes a call on governments to speed up the transition away from fossil fuels to renewables such as wind and solar power in their next round of climate commitments.
